Our COVID-19 safety measures at the museum

Felixstowe Museum is officially accredited by the We’re Good to Go industry standard, given by VisitEngland to businesses that are following industry and Government COVID-19 guidance on cleanliness and social distancing, and have clear processes in place for our volunteers and staff to follow to protect us all.

Visitors to the Museum are required to wear face coverings upon entering unless otherwise exempt. Please bring or display an exemption card or badge, or download one to your mobile device. There are PDF attachments you can use on the GOV.UK website here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/face-coverings-when-to-wear-one-and-how-to-make-your-own

We are now legally obliged to collect and maintain a record of visitors for the purpose of contact tracing, under the NHS Test and Trace scheme https://www.gov.uk/guidance/nhs-test-and-trace-how-it-works

Anyone over the age of 16 entering the premises will be required to provide contact details through scanning our NHS Test and Trace venue QR code. If you do not have access to the app, we will ask you to fill in a contact details form for each member of your party (please bring a pen). These will be placed in an envelope which will be sealed at the end of each day and only opened if we are requested to do so by NHS Test and Trace or local public health officials to help contain clusters or outbreaks. We will keep records of customers, visitors and staff for a period of 21 days after which they will be destroyed.

There is signage to remind all our visitors to socially distance and we have a one-way system and priority give way system in place to help everyone stay safe. We have reduced our capacity to ensure adequate space for social distancing accordingly and each room will normally be limited to a single group or ‘bubble’ as advised by the government legislation for England.

We have removed, adapted or replaced displays to make your visit safer. Touch activities that are still available to use are cleaned regularly or have been modified to be touch free or operated by a foot switch. To protect us all please do not touch the objects or displays as these are difficult to sanitise without harming the objects.

We have upgraded our cashless payment systems and would prefer not to take cash. There is no minimum payment.

There is sanitiser available on entry, exit and throughout the museum. Unfortunately, we do not have hand washing facilities or toilets available for visitors. These are available to the public at the Visitors Centre nearby.

We have modified our catering offer and shop to follow the current government guidelines and will be using recyclable containers wherever possible.

To reduce the risk further we will be opening more external doors to improve ventilation so please make sure you dress accordingly.

Stay safe
