Summer fun for the children 2016
Touching the Tide Art Workshop
Held on 5th June, 2016, this workshop, the fourth in a series called Steam, Sail and Saxons, was run by Karenza Jackson (painter/printmaker) & Jennifer Hall (printmaker/sculptor), two artists involved with the Tidal Margins project. The event was funded by Touching the Tide.
Children and adults together had a great time looking at the amazing models in the Pleasure Steamer room before creating their drawings and paintings on the subject of paddle steamers under the guidance of our visiting artists.
Summer fun day
This was a great Summer Treat! We held our Summer Fun Day on 10th August and it was very much enjoyed.
Miraiker Battye (www.batteyspunch.com) kept the children well entertained with her fairytale puppet shows and balloon modelling. Outside there was a Teddy Bear’s Picnic, giant games and the Suffolk Wildlife Trust had wildlife puzzles to solve. Beach Bonkers offered mini beachcombling walks too. Inside the museum children and adults could create their own puppet shows too. A fun time was had by all.
By Royal Appointment
We were graced with the presence of HRH Landguard Queen, and her corgi Susan, on Wednesday afternoons in August. Children (and some adults) were knighted in the Felgate Room – and got a certificate to prove it!. The newly honoured Sirs and Dames enjoyed making crowns for themselves before going on a right royal scavenger hunt and playing Royalty Bingo.
