We are delighted to announce that in October 2016, we were awarded with the Merit Award in the Suffolk Museum of the Year competition. This is a tribute to the energy and efforts of our volunteers past and present. Thanks are also due to all those who voted for us.
Over the winter months our volunteers have updated and refreshed many areas of the museum. We’ve been joined by some of Felixstowe’s Air Cadets who have enjoyed volunteering their time in the RAF and Model rooms as well as setting a new owl trail for this year’s younger visitors. We hope that they will continue to volunteer over the summer months so they can share their expertise with our visitors.
Our open season for the public started on Wednesday 12th April with an Easter Egg hunt for youngsters. For us it started with an enjoyable muster day at the museum to introduce our volunteers to the new exhibitions as well as to update them on emergency procedures and health & safety issues. The business was preceded by coffee and cake!
More news will follow as the season gets underway.
